Kino journeys with his partner Hermes, the motorcycle that speaks. They travel through one strange country after another. Through their encounters with the inhabitants, stories unwind and mysteries unfold, plunging them right into the reality of life in each country. They witness wonders and joy in one country, and then in one another, they witness hopelessness and sorrow. It all seems random, and there does not seem to be a tangible pattern or answer to it, and yet each of the encounters, and each of the lives touches Kino and it accumulates into a certain sense that the world is beautiful.
