Rodan / War of the Gargantuas (Japanese, Sci-Fi Action)
RODAN: Rodan, originally released in Japan in 1956 involves a giant monster being awoken from an ancient hibernation by human beings. In Rodan, miners digging far into the earth stumble across a clutch of giant, prehistoric insects which viciously attack several of the miners and prompt a government investigation into the matter. The giant bugs turn out to be little more than food for two gigantic flying beasts called Rodans, who hatch from giant eggs and proceed to terrorize the entire world.
WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS: War of the Gargantuas, released in Japan in 1966 as "Frankenstein's Monsters: Sanda versus Gaira" and a semi-sequel to Frankenstein Conquers The World. It introduces two giant, hairy humanoids called Gargantuas, which spawned from the discarded cells of Frankenstein's Monster from the previous film and are described as brothers. The Green Gargantua is violent and savage, preying upon human beings; as he lives in sea water, he is given the name Gaira for "stranger." The Brown Gargantua had been raised in captivity, and is docile and gentle; because he resides in the Japan Alps, he is called Sanda for "mountain". The film follows the investigation and military engagements of these creatures until their climatic confrontation in Tokyo.

Official Godzilla: Final Wars (Japanese, Sci-Fi Action)
Godzilla's 50th Anniversary project and costliest adventure to date out of 28 films. Earth has been relatively peaceful since Godzilla was successfully buried deep in ice beneath the South Pole. Then - sometime a few years hence-several of his old nemeses return to wreak havoc on cities worldwide. A huge spaceship suddenly appears and neutralizes all the monsters in a blink. The visitors are "Xiliens," who take human form and announce they would like to negotiate a peace treaty that would replace the United Nations with a "United Universe". They are indeed too good to be true, however. It doesn't take long before their nefarious real purpose is exposed - conquering Earth. Greatly outmatched, Earth officials decide to de-freeze Godzilla as man's only hope to vanish the invaders, as well as the monsters they control. Only trouble is Godzilla is still mad at man for freezing him in the first place.

Godzilla
As "gigantic monster reptile attacks New York" movies go, you've got to admit that Godzilla delivers the goods, although its critical drubbing and box-office disappointment were arguably deserved. It's a shameless, uninspired crowd pleaser that's content to serve up familiar action with the advantage of really fantastic special effects.

Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.
The 27th film in the series (presumably the 28th, Final Wars, will be the last), Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. is a direct sequel to Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002). Professor Shinichi Chujo is visited by some old friends: Mothra's twin priestesses, the Shobijin. The pair announce that Mechagodzilla is an affront to nature and the bones of the 1954 Godzilla (which were retrieved from the ocean floor in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla) must be returned to the sea. If this is done, Mothra will protect Japan from Godzilla; if not, she will become an enemy of mankind. The Japanese government is reluctant to put their trust in a creature that attacked them 40 years ago but before a decision can be reached, Godzilla returns to take matters into his own hands.

The second in the "island" trilogy, SON OF GODZILLA opens with a group of scientists on a deserted island performing weather experiments; they soon discover that nuclear activity has mutated insects on the island into huge preying mantises. They courageously continue with their experiment until a horrible accident cause a radioactive storm, mutating the insects further, uncovering a giant egg, and summoning Godzilla. The egg hatches into a young monster that Godzilla takes under his wing, training it in the ways of proper monsterhood while battling the giant insects. Akira Kubo stars as an intrepid journalist who comes to the island in search of a story.

We humans are destroying our environment and now there is a price to pay. From the sewage and sludge pumped sea, life degenerates, then mutates, creating a mega-monster, Hedorah. A radically ugly creature, this mammoth of muck swims, walks and flies, pausing only to inhale noxious smokestack fumes. He emits poisonous gas, crushes armies and annihilates cities while thriving on the toxins of our ecosystem. Godzilla vs. Megaguirus
The plot is very good, and it plays out very nicely at a pretty fast pace. This movie is part of the Millennium Series of Godzilla films. Each movie of this series rewrites Godzilla history, acting as though no other Godzilla movies ever happened except for the very first. You probably already know all about it, but I will go into a short summary. Godzilla attacked Japan in 1954 (in the first Godzilla movie), reappeared in 1966 when Japan built it's first nuclear power plant, then showed up in 1996 to attack the first plasma energy plant (which was supposed to not attract him). Then, in 2000 (the present, for this movie), a team called G-Graspers builds a cannon called Dimension Tide which can fire an artificial black hole (for sucking up Godzilla). While testing it on an abandoned building, a 6-foot dragonfly called a Meganula comes through to our dimension and lays an egg. Godzilla returns again, and the egg hatches a huge swarm of Meganula, which transfer their energy to their queen, the Godzilla-sized Megaguirus. A climactic battle ensues, and Dimension Tide is ready to go. Who will come out on top, Godzilla, Megaguirus, or the humans? I found this movie to be very entertaining. It kept my interest throughout the whole thing.
