Yo-Yo Girl Cop (Japanese, Action)

Delinquent schoolgirl turned yo-yo wielding detective Asamiya Saki is returning to the big screen! Created by manga writer Wada Shinji, the crimefighting protagonist of Sukeban Deka was extremely popular in the 1980s, with the comic adapted into three television series, two feature films, and an anime series. Over a decade later, director Fukasaku Kenta (Battle Royale 2) is bringing the classic heroine to a new generation of fans with Sukeban Deka: Code Name = Asamiya Saki, a.k.a. Yo-Yo Girl Cop.

In the series' previous incarnations, Asamiya Saki was portrayed by 80s idols Saito Yuki, Minamino Yoko, and Asaka Yui. Appropriately, for the latest Sukeban Deka adaptation, the cast is comprised of Hello! Project singers. J-pop idol Matsuura Aya (Ao no Hono) steps into the shoes of Asamiya Saki, while former Morning Musume member Ishikawa Rika plays her rival. Shedding their sweetheart images, Matsuura and Ishikawa give tough-as-nail performances that may leave even their fans in surprise. Ishikawa's Biyuuden bandmates, Miyoshi Erika and Okada Yui, and Melon Kinenbi member Ohtani Masae also make appearances in the film. As a special nod, Saito Yuko, the first actress to portray Asamiya Saki in the 80s TV series, appears as Matsuura's mother.

Tough juvenile delinquent "K" (Matsuura Aya) is transferred from New York back to Japan where the police enlist her to become their newest bearer of the agent codename Asamiya Saki in exchange for the freedom of her imprisoned mother, a former Asamiya Saki herself. The police send her undercover to the trouble-ridden Seisen High School to investigate mysterious bombings linking to an underground website named Enola Gay. The website is counting down to an ominous event, and Asamiya Saki has only three days to solve the case.
